REQUIREMENTS
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages three subordinates who supervise approximately 175 employees in the Health and Life Claims and Administration areas. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining a written job description and current individual performance goals for each employee, at least monthly meeting with all members of the department to provide information and solicit operational input, and a meeting individually at least every six months to review performance goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, with previous management experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, and complex legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL/TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to use technology to analyze data, measure performance, and maximize performance and efficiency. Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
